The world has problems. There’s no way of avoiding it. Corruption, inequality and incompetence generate contradictions that come to haunt you in due course.
In 2007 Madrid would have been the clear winner; in 2010 Tokyo; and in 2012 Istanbul. In 2013, these candidacies seem bizarre on so many levels.
