  1. It’s a shame that the Turks do not understand the value of their own history. I wonder if the Persians would have let this happen. Unless you understand the past you cannot understand the present is a very true statement. Alas fixations on scientific and technological forms of development are leaving people increasingly unable to appreciate other equally valuable disciplines.

    • Well, from the look of much of Teheran the Iranians don’t seem to be that fussed about preserving their history, either. Interestingly, civil society in Turkey appears to be almost uniformly against the sinking of Hasankeyf – possibly one reason why its proposed flooding has been seemingly delayed for years.
