  1. Someone’s waking up to the fact that we need to manufacture more in this country, but it’s a shame that we’ve completely forgotten about having an ethical foreign policy. We’ve got to focus on making phones, computers, robots and cars. Otherwise we don’t have a long term future. At some point the world is going to realise that sending electronic money round and round the City of London is not the same as ‘making’ things.

    • The UK’s position in emerging industries should be much better than it is, especially given the obvious limitations of the financial services model 2007-. Sustainable manufacturing surely has to be the way to go – or at least a very important component of the future.
